Write a card around one concept or distinction. A focused question is easier to review honestly than a request to reproduce an entire chapter. Use the ideas you meet in practice to decide what belongs in your deck.
Answer before you reveal.
Say the answer, write a few words, or hold a clear response in mind. Then turn the card and compare. Notice what you recalled and what needed the extra cue.
Rate the attempt you just made.
Choose the recall rating that describes this attempt. It is useful information for your next review date. A difficult card deserves another encounter; a familiar one can wait longer.
Keep cards focused enough that you can tell whether you actually recalled the answer.
